Overcoming Estrogen Dominance
Magdalena Wszelaki
Insightful on ways to lower estrogen by also looking at other hormones including progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, etc. but still left feeling like it was lacking on information about associated issues with high estrogen (like polyps and fibroids).

Ultramarathon Man

Inspiring! This man is crazy but it helps tap into a little bit of what I feel by pushing myself in endurance. He's a beast though! Great story.

This Woven Kingdom
Tahereh Mafi
Slow start, but it moved very fast at the end. Some of it was predictable but there were quite a few surprises I didn't see coming.

The Twilight Garden
Lia Leendertz
And the subtitle is Creating a Garden that Entrances by Day and Comes Alive at Night. I've wanted to create such a garden, a "Moon Garden", for years. I have planted some white blooming flowers and some with variegated foliage to come alive at night but my ideas lack structure and follow through. I found this book helpful with the many perennials, shrubs, and trees listed as possible candidates for my space.

The Cigar Factory
Michele Moore
Again I've chosen a historical novel from the Book Nook. I've a facination with Charleston, SC, but have never been there. I have a connection to the south through my Mom's NC birth, her ancestors having immigrated to the U.S. through the port of Charleston, and my having lived in VA for 7 years. This is a great story of survival of both black and white people and gives insight to the 19th century Southern culture. I knew nothing about the manufacture of cigars until reading this book. The building where the factory was located has been rehabbed and today houses a number of businesses. I've come to understand that Charleston is big on historic Preservation.

Gertrude Bell, Queenof the Dessert Shaper of Nations
Georgina Howell
Great Biography! I'd not heard of Miss Bell so seeing the cover photo of her astride a camel taken in front of the Spinx and pyramids of Egypt caught my eye. The author, a former journalist, gives us a well reserached, interesting book that reads somewhat like a novel to me. I came away better understanding the Middle East and It's amazing the relevancy to current events going on in that regoin today. And, the maps in the beginning show where and when she made her various journies.
