The Wim Hof Method
by Wim Hof
View in Library Catalog
book cover

Although his theories and exposition may feel a bit “out there,” the techniques he espouses are easy to practice to see if they work for you. I appreciate that he begins with the practical and lays out the instructions clearly, and then expands on the theory and spiritual nature later in the book.

Overall the book is pretty dry but I’m hopefully for the recommended books and feel like it was good knowledge to help enrich the reading experience of my gifted child.

Rendezvous With Rama

The Rama ship was the best and most interesting character in the book. I want to learn more about the beings that made the ship and its purpose. Couldn’t care less about the humans in the book.

The Strange Case Of Jane O.
by Karen Thompson Walker

This book is okay - it's a quick, straightforward read. There were a lot of ways this plot could have gone - down deceptive, psychopathy or metaphysical routes and I was interested to find out what the underlying cause of the main characters symptoms was. When I did found out, I found it unrewarding. I wasn't pleased by how much of the ending is about the doctor and patient's relationship as opposed to the actual plot.

The Man Made Of Smoke
by Alex North

Okay, The Man Made of Smoke had me in a chokehold ?????. It’s giving haunted childhood trauma, moody island vibes, and that slow-burn mystery where you know something’s off but can’t quite put your finger on it. Dan? Total emotionally unavailable king just trying to keep it together while his whole past pulls up uninvited. And the “is it real or just in his head” energy? Chef’s kiss. I was second-guessing everything. It’s not super fast-paced, and you kinda have to let the story marinate, but once it clicks—boom, brain fireworks. Def worth the read if you’re into deep feels + dark twists + generational mess.

Razorblade Tears
by SA Cosby

Razorblade Tears is a gut-wrenching, beautifully brutal masterpiece. S.A. Cosby crafts a storyline that’s as thrilling as it is emotionally profound. At its heart, this is more than a revenge tale—it’s a powerful exploration of grief, redemption, and the bonds between fathers and sons. The story follows two ex-cons, one Black and one white, brought together by the murder of their married sons. As they seek justice, they're also forced to confront their own prejudices, regrets, and the unconditional love they denied their children. Every chapter peels back layers of pain, loss, and humanity with raw intensity. Cosby's writing is electric—fast-paced yet poetic, violent yet tender. He pulls no punches in portraying the harsh realities of bigotry, masculinity, and forgiveness, but balances it with aching vulnerability. This book doesn’t just entertain—it cuts deep and lingers long after the final page. A gripping, heart-breaking, and unforgettable ride.

Tale of a self centered narcissist charismatic man who brought unhappiness to any life he touched. Sad but true.

The Gown, A Novel of the Royal Wedding

I loved it! Having been an avid fan of England and interested in Queen Elizabeth all my life, seeing this book at The Nook crabbed my attention. I scooped it up. Well researched, I thihk, with interesting fictionalized characters. I enjoyed learning a lot about the royal wedding itself, the hoopla surrounding it, and the gown that was at the center of attention.

Bud is an orphan who is trying to live in the big world. Bud thinks a random man is his father and sticks to his decision. This book is hilarious. You won’t be able to predict what happens next.
